Back in February, we were honoured to receive an invitation from photographer Julia Seiler, that went something like this:
So – of course – we attended yesterday’s Industry Night and were totally impressed and inspired! There was such diversity in the types of projects, ranging from commerical to experimental, fine art, and some amazing portraiture. Our formal education is in a very different field, so it was interesting for us to (for a short time) experience the other path that leads to a career in this industry. It seemed that Sheridan’s program provided many opportunities for students to explore various forms of photography and develop their artistic identities. It took us back to Afterglow’s beginnings, and the evolution that both our style and our business has undergone over the last few years. Seeing other artists in bloom reminds us of the importance of ongoing professional development, and keeping the “art” in photography. It reminds us that, as photographers, our job is to find ways to stay inspired and fuel inspiration in others.
The Two Gallery runs until May 7, and is located in the Distillery District of Toronto (55 Mill Street). Artists whose work really stood out to us were:
